Boom!ng Amersfoort
Ten years of construction in the city

‘Boom!ng Amersfoort, Ten years of construction in the city’ reviews the highlights of the last ten years of new architecture and urban design in the growing town of Amersfoort and offers a multi-facetted picture of this highly productive and creative period. The exhibition will feature not just public buildings, housing schemes and examples of urban design, but also interiors that are open to the public. It shows that architects from all over the Netherlands and even from abroad have contributed to the built environment of Amersfoort.
A two-part exhibition
The main exhibition area will accommodate a quick summary of fifty outstanding architectural and urban design projects executed in Amersfoort over the last decade. Forty of them were nominated for the biennial Amersfoort Prize for Architecture in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007 and exhibited in that context. ‘Boom!ng Amersfoort’ also includes the nominees for the 2010 prize. In the course of the exhibition, a professional jury of Dutch city architects will choose its favourite from among all fifty projects on show.
The smaller exhibition area will offer a more detailed look at the ten nominees for this year’s prize. The public will be given a chance to have its say on the best project completed in the last two years by voting on special-purpose ballot papers.

The photographers concerned are: Siebe Swart (2001); Jannes Linders (2003); Jeroen Musch (2005); Harry Cock (2007) and Mike Bink (2010).
