The AMA 2026 Festival will take place from May 7 through May 10 in Amersfoort. Under the theme Ladders The festival will feature several concerts with top international musicians, master classes, lectures, and more. The full program has now been announced.
During the festival, the art installation ECHO by Stephen Dean, on view at the Elleboogkerk, which is also the festival’s main concert venue. The art installation is an extension of the exhibition Stairway to…? at Kunsthal KAdE and consists of five colorful ladders that appear to be descending from the ceiling. ECHO is a major source of inspiration during the festival.
Ladders and stairs are designed to bridge heights, but they also carry strong symbolic meaning: growth, ambition, vulnerability, movement, and a quest. The concerts will be a engage in direct dialogue with this installation, without illustrating it literally. The theme serves as an open framework for interpretation, artistic freedom, and personal experience. Four concerts will showcase how music evolves over time: from its foundations and traditions to innovation and personal expression. Featuring works by, among others, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky, and a world premiere of Todd Mason, Festival AMA is once again bringing together leading musicians in Amersfoort.
