Can you embroider with brick? Brick seems very ordinary, but there is so much to tell about it and so many beautiful things to make from it. Artists Antal, Thijs and Marisja of ATM-Atmosphere have designed a work of art made of brick for the exhibition BAKSTEEN on remnants of the old Amersfoort city wall. They call the artwork 'Fa-brick' because it is a woven masonry, due to the different shapes, structures and patterns. Could you make something like this too? Together with the designers of ATM you will go on an excursion in Amersfoort and discover what you can do to make art out of brick.

The brick - According to the Dictionary, literally: a baked stone. Big, small, in lots of colors, found in your home, on the street, in squares. You probably know bricks mostly as a building material. But what else could you build with bricks? And why do artists find ordinary brick so interesting today? Kunsthal KAdE is creating an exhibition on brick this fall, featuring work by architects, artists and designers who are all inspired by brick in their own way.
