City photography workshop by Hans Wilschut

Photograph the city through the eyes of Hans Wilschut. On Friday morning, March 29, the Rotterdam photographer will give a one-time and exclusive "city photography" workshop in Amersfoort. The workshop is organized after the exhibition MAESTRO VAN WITTEL (until May 5 in Kunsthal KAdE). Especially for this exhibition, Wilschut photographed places in Rome, Naples, Venice and Amersfoort that Caspar van Wittel (1653 - 1736) painted frequently. ''The choice of Hans Wilschut was a logical one. He sits on the city, often from height, a perspective that also characterizes much of Caspar van Wittel's work'' (Robbert Roos, director Kunsthal KAdE). His photographs hang in the exhibition among Van Wittel's paintings, making it possible to compare the city then and now.

Hans Wilschut begins the workshop with a short guided tour, recounting exciting anecdotes about his contribution to the exhibition. With tips & tricks from Wilschut, you will then follow in his footsteps and photograph the city through the eyes of and together with the Rotterdam photographer. Recommended: bring a good camera.

About Hans Wilschut:
Photographer Hans Wilschut's (1966) work has its origins in the urban world. His photographs are lyrical reflections on the urbanized environment. Often a social motif can be found as an underlying layer in his photographic work. ''With my photographic works, I focus on the city as architectural and social space and the tension between them.'', said the photographer.
