During this lecture, designer Baukje Trenning delves into the history of brick use in Amsterdam and its future. Using brick research and designs from her practice, compiled in the book Brickwork Amsterdam, Baukje Trenning tells more about form and material experiments with bricks, to design research into new sustainable building materials that reuse brick.
After the lecture, you will walk with the artist to her folly (brick structure) in the New Town of Amersfoort to delve deeper into the sources of inspiration for her structure, the old factory chimneys. The folly is a 5-minute walk away.

About Baukje Trenning:
Baukje Trenning is a designer, researcher and educator whose practice focuses on designing and exploring materials and surfaces within architecture. Trenning studied industrial design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. For the exhibition BAKSTEEN | BRICK at Kunsthal KAdE, she designed the folly "Among equals - circles of brick," based on the design of old factory chimneys.
