Are you inspired by the power, style and colors of Jacob Lawrence? Get to work yourself in a workshop where image and language come together in a work of art you create, guided by two art teachers.
Stories from your own life are a source of inspiration, they don't have to be grand or compelling but they can be told grandly and compellingly. Together with teacher Annette Verspoor you will write about a moment from your personal history, with the help of teacher Astrid Ritskes you will turn that story into a visual work of art.

About Jacob Lawrence
Lawrence broke through in 1941 with his iconic painting series "The Great Migration," a series consisting of 60 panels in which he told the story of the mass movement of Black people from the U.S. South to the North. Throughout his oeuvre, Jacob Lawrence put African-American history at the center of his work. Jacob Lawrence developed his own autonomous painting style in the latter days of the Harlem Renaissance and is considered one of the most important African-American painters of the 20th century.
