Kunsthal KAdE will show a major solo exhibition by Mona Hatoum (b. 1952) from Feb. 1, 2025, with work that spans her entire career: from 1980s performance and video work to recent sculptures and installations.
The artist - born in Lebanon as the daughter of Palestinian exiles - has lived in London since 1975, building a body of work that revolves around the tension between home, displacement and exile. Everyday objects come under power, the globe becomes a buzzing red neon map and glass forms are trapped inside cage-like structures. With a minimalist aesthetic and poetic use of the everyday, Mona Hatoum manages to transform themes of global conflict into imaginative sculptures and installations.
