In MELLA, MAATPAK & MARSHMALLOWS, you step into the world of Mella Jaarsma. You start at Kunsthal KAdE. There, together with a museum docent, you visit the exhibition Trouble Skirts. With her costumes, installations and performances, Mella 'questions' the relationship between man and nature. To her, her costumes are a second skin ... that is not only worn but also radiates something to the outside world.
After the tour of KAdE, you will go to Scholen in de Kunst to create your own "costume" or textile artwork. You will have seen how Mella works, heard how she looks at the world and how she translates that into her costumes. So your chance to get to work yourself with fabrics, ribbons, beads and more. You are completely free to make whatever you want!
