As part of the Tell Me Your Story exhibition, de Lieve Vrouw is screening three films during the month of March that tie in with the theme of the exhibition at Kunsthal KAdE.
If Beale Street Could Talk is a moving love story set in 1970s Harlem, based on James Baldwin's book of the same name. 19-year-old Tish Rivers is a mother-to-be. She and her fiancé Fonny have known each other since childhood and feel that nothing can stand in the way of their love. But their plans are thwarted by Fonny being arrested for a crime he didn't commit. In a ruthless and racially biased world, Tish and Fonny must manage to hold their own. A film, from the creator of Oscar winner "Moonlight," about the endurance of love.
