Lecture: Traces of the life of Caspar van Wittel in Amersfoort and Rome
This lecture focuses on the search in various domestic and foreign archives for traces of the life of Caspar van Wittel. Catalog authors Miriam Kolk and Albert Boersma talk about their research and how they managed to gather more information about Caspar van Wittel's houses in Amersfoort and Rome. For example, Albert Boersma was able to find out where Caspar van Wittel's parents lived in Amersfoort through research in the Eemland archives and by studying contemporary sources. Miriam Kolk describes the various residential addresses of Van Wittel in Rome, with whom he lived there and how this could be traced in Roman archives.
