Coming soon: Frankenthaler / Judd

In the fall of 2026, Kunsthal KAdE will present an exhibition featuring the work of Helen Frankenthaler and Donald Judd

Starting September 26, 2026, Kunsthal KAdE will host an exhibition featuring works by Helen Frankenthaler (1928–2011) and Donald Judd (1928–1994).

Helen Frankenthaler and Donald Judd are two influential artists from postwar New York who each forged their own path within abstract art. The exhibition Frankenthaler / Judd highlights their differences: free form versus a minimalistic visual language, intuition versus reason, and underappreciated and rarely collected versus popular and widely acquired in the Netherlands. But there are also subtle similarities to be discovered in their use of color, form, and plane.

In the second half of the 20th century, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism were major art movements. KAdE presents both movements side by side and illustrates how art has evolved.

"Frankenthaler / Judd" will be on view from September 26, 2026, through January 10, 2027.
