Festival Arte Musica Amersfoort

Festival Arte Musica Amersfoort brings music and art together in the Elleboogkerk.

From May 9 to 11, the first edition of Festival Arte Musica Amersfoort, a new music festival bringing together visual art, classical music and the public in the historic heart of the city. The Elbow Church forms one of the festival's main venues.

A special feature of this location is the work Webb (2025) by the world-renowned artist Mona Hatoum, which took center stage during the festival, both literally and substantively. The artwork inspired the programming of the Saturday evening concert. Themes of connection, suffocation and/or liberation are central to Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht and Swedish composer and violinist Amanda Maier's Violin Sonata in B minor. "How do you stay alive when you get caught in a tightly woven web?"

Top musicians in a special setting
Initiators and violinists Tosca Opdam and Asi Matathias, together with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, violist Dana Zemtsov, cellist Gabriel Schwabe and pianists Einav Yarden and Victor Stanislavsky, among others, bring an impressive program to Amersfoort. The Elleboogkerk offers a unique, intimate setting with special acoustics - in which Hatoum's work and the music reinforce each other.

Kunsthal KAdE & Arte Musica
The collaboration between Kunsthal KAdE and Arte Musica emphasizes the power of cross-pollination between disciplines. All concerts will be introduced and presented by Wouter Steijn of Museum Flehite or by Robbert Roos, director of Kunsthal KAdE. From their own perspective, they consider the works being played.
