This summer, you'll discover a magical world during your visit to Kunsthal KAdE in Amersfoort.
The new exhibition Mundo Mágico Through new and existing works, it reveals a world in which reality takes on a slight twist, making the experience ‘magical.’ A world with a soul. It is a tribute to the gallery’s programMendes Wood DM in São Paulo, as seen through the lens of twelve of its artists.
In 2016, works by some of them were already on display at KAdE in the exhibition Soft Power Arte Brasil. That exhibition explored Brazil’s socioeconomic context during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games through the eyes of Lucas Arruda, Paulo Nazareth, and Paulo Nimer Pjota—artists who have since gained international recognition and are now on view once again at KAdE.
Recurring themes include landscape, identity, memory, and mythology, approached from a personal, critical, and sometimes spiritual perspective. A central place is reserved for Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato (1900–1995). His vision of the landscape is very specific: realistic, naïve, and evocative all at once, somewhat detached, so that it is never a factual record.
At the new KAdEStudio, we invite you to reflect on your relationship with the magical world around you. Be inspired by the artists featured in the exhibition and get creative yourself. There will also be various guided tourand and activities organized.
