Kunstenaar Stephen Dean geeft 31 mei een Artist Talk, dit evenement is Engelstalig, alle informatie die volgt is daarom ook in het Engels.
Although the exhibition Stairway to..? has ended, the beautiful installtion ECHO of Stephen Dean in the Elleboogkerk is still on view. On 31 May, Stephen Dean will come from Paris to Amersfoort to talk about his work during this special Artist Talk.
In ECHO, color is not simply applied but activated through the use of special dichroic glass, which simultaneously reflects and projects light depending on the viewer’s position. The result is a shifting visual experience that lingers and then slips away.
The work resonates with philosopher Henri Bergson’s notion of “duration”: the subjective, continuous flow of lived time, as opposed to measurable clock time. Like the gradual transition of colors in a sunset, Dean’s installation evokes an uninterrupted continuity in which moments merge rather than exist as separate units. His “color ladders” reflect an elusive and ephemeral world, an experience whose echo continues to resonate.
During the artist talk, Stephen Dean will discuss his practice, the development of ECHO, and his earlier work. At the end of the Artist Talk the audience will have the opportunity to ask all their questions to Stephen Dean.

Practical information
Amersfoort has a low-traffic (car-restricted) city centre, which means it is not possible to park directly in front of the venue. Visitors are encouraged to come on foot or by bicycle. If you are arriving by car, the best options are the parking garages at Eemplein or the City Hall (Stadhuis). From Amersfoort Central Station, the Elleboogkerk is approximately a 15-minute walk.
