In this lecture, author Thera Coppens will tell more about the life of Princess Sophie Grand Duchess of Saxe Weimar Eisenach and his court gown which is on display in the exhibition "4 State Collections & Hans Op de Beeck.
At Kunsthal KAdE, several themes have been chosen that connect the art from CollectionCentrum Netherlands with the works of Hans Op de Beeck. In the space with the theme 'Feast', Princess Sophie's court gown from Paleis Het Loo has been selected. It was the court gown that Thera Coppens received in 2010 as a gift from the princess' great-granddaughter, Cornelie Brena. The weathered textile inspired Thera Coppens while writing her book 'Sophie in Weimar'. Coppens later gave the gown on loan to Museum Paleis Het Loo.
On Sunday afternoon, April 7, Thera Coppens will give a lecture on Princess Sophie Grand Duchess of Saxony Weimar Eisenach. She is the only Orange who gained world fame for her care of cultural heritage.
