On Feb. 21 is your chance to practice Yoga Nidra under a special work of art.
The Elbow Church is currently hosting the new installation by artist Mona Hatoum Web (2025) on view. A large-scale network of delicate, transparent glass spheres shaped like a spider's web by threads.
Yoga Studio Bindi will host the class at this special location.
Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique in which you learn to relax consciously. Your body sleeps, but your mind remains clear, awake. We are generally unaware of our relaxation. When we sleep, we are momentarily "gone. And when we want to relax, we are doing something that gives us the feeling of relaxation, such as drinking a cup of tea, reading a book, watching television, listening to music, and so on. But these are all (sensory) distractions. Instead, for absolute relaxation, you need to remain conscious. And that's what you do with Yoga Nidra, the state of dynamic sleep.
Note: Bring your own mat, blanket, something to lay your head on and an eye mask!
You want to lie comfortably during yoga Nidra, but of course you must not fall asleep.
