Machiel Spaan, architect and founder of M3H architectsHe talks about new building methods and raises dilemmas based on his work. The special project Cape Horn will also be discussed. It is one of the first buildings in which the Drystrack technique has been applied on a large scale. During the evening, this new way of processing bricks will be discussed in more detail.
Architect and building technologist Koen Mulder addresses current developments of brick. On the one hand, there are products in which the brick becomes thinner and thinner, on the other hand, applications are developing that rely precisely on the stackable property of brick. Koen Mulder is the author of the book 'Zinderend Oppervlak' and with students from TU Delft he realized the snake wall that can now be seen in the Elleboogkerk.
RE-ST is a Flemish architecture and research firm that searches for solutions to urgent and complex spatial issues. Tim Vekemans does not shy away from placing a critical note. Especially the handling of existing bricks is THE task as far as he is concerned. RE-ST wrote the book "Wanderspace wandering space" which literally takes the form of a brick. In this book, RE-ST shares the view that detecting, mapping and activating wanderspace is a task and opportunity for the architect.

It is the immediate reason for this evening, organized by Kunsthal KAdE in collaboration with FASadE. The exhibition pays tribute to material with work by more than fifty artists, architects and designers from home and abroad. In new and existing work, we show the beauty and expressiveness of baked stone. The exhibition can be visited until January 8, 2023. Accompanying the exhibition is a brick tour developed, also in cooperation with FASadE.
